I come from Poland, but I am permanently settled in the Arctic and employed at Nord University in Bodø, Norway, where I am finalizing my Ph.D. In my doctoral research, I explore the adaptation to climate change in the context of multiple stressors among Arctic pastoralists. My project focuses on the complex relationships between the cultural values of Arctic communities and their responses to the effects of climate change.

During my work at Nord University in Bodø, Norway, I was actively engaged in several research projects, such as CLINF, CoastChange, and JUSTNORTH, conducting fieldwork across the Circumpolar North, from Canada to Scandinavia. In my work, I combine my academic and professional background with the urgent need for effective solutions to numerous overlapping challenges, with climate change in focus. I genuinely believe that acknowledging local contexts and considering cultural factors as sustainability elements in studying the significance of climate change impacts on livelihoods can lead to remarkable observations and future projections. Therefore, I support interdisciplinary research that invites stakeholders and rightsholders across all levels and scales to the co-production of knowledge. This approach will contribute meaningful adaptations alongside sustainable development strategies.

I have fulfilled my MA in the Sociology of Culture and Media in Łódź, Poland. As I grew up in Łódź surrounded by scarcity and injustice, I knew early in life that I wanted to dedicate my career to exploring, understanding, and explaining these types of issues. As I pursued my studies, I soon realized that the Arctic is an intriguing place, and interestingly, nearly all pressing global issues come together in the High North.

My research interests range from culture and communication to food security to different aspects of the climate impacts on the social-ecological systems. Particularly multispecies encounters, human-nature relationships, and alternative epistemologies have recently been in my field of interest.
