Under the leadership of Lisa Winberg von Friesen, Laura Halbach, Maria Scheel and Gregor Luetzenburg, the Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) is moving toward establishing a national committee within Denmark. APECS Denmark will help Danish-based early career scholars develop a local Danish polar network and tap into and use the wider APECS network and resources. The APECS resources include a database on funding opportunities for polar scholars, newsletters, conferences and workshops (in person and online), webinars and the APECS Summer School.
APECS Denmark plans to complement these international APECS resources with Danish-focused events and finding ways to help Danish early career scholars with career development, such as mentoring opportunities and funding application assistance. The process of formalizing the APECS Denmark national committee is still ongoing and now is the time for you to participate in the local consultation process.
On the 26th May 2020, the APECS Denmark leadership committee took the first step to opening up the national committee establishment process through an initial online-based consultation with scholars. The process included a PowerPoint presentation of their vision for the new national committee, breakout sessions to brainstorm what APECS Denmark should focus on and how to run the national committee, and networking in the form of meet-and-greet communication amongst the meeting participants.
The next opportunity to participate in the APECS Denmark consultation process is the 9 June 2020 at 4:00pm (GMT+2). Learn more details on how to register to attend the meeting at @ApecsDenmark. Register here at: https://ucph-ku.zoom.us/meeting/register/u5YscOqurj8jGtSO8H3tkjPTBElIpKuDFM7o
