The launch of the Women in the Arctic initiative in 2018 was met with a lot of interest and support from women around the world. This interest helped to motivate the growth of the initiative to include a website and a more active role in the promotion of women doing Polar studies. As a result of this growth, the resounding interest and support from women involved in Arctic and Antarctic research has continued to grow with us.
In light of women involved in Antarctic research also participating in the initiative, it is time to evolve the initiative name to better reflect their inclusion. Now we are the “Women in the Arctic and Antarctic”, and as always, we remain committed to the promotion of research and knowledge of women in and from the Polar regions.
